Three months ago, three friends — who originally met through blogging — sat in their homes in three separate states, where they were experiencing motherhood in three different ways. All of them had the desire to express their thoughts of motherhood in a safe and welcoming space. One Facebook message here, an email there, and a lot of late night conversations later, Grace for Every Mom was born.
Our mission in starting this blog is to connect and inspire other moms, wherever they are on their journey in motherhood. Motherhood can be a lonely ride, but there is nothing more refreshing than nodding your head and thinking, “Hey, I feel that way too!”
Here’s a little bit about each of us and where we are in motherhood.
Aloha! I’m Melissa – a military spouse living in Hawaii with my husband and 19 month old daughter. We’re expecting another baby girl in the spring of 2017. I’m primarily a stay-at-home-mom, and also run a photography business on the side. You may know me from my personal blog, which I just recently stepped away from to make more time for my business and this blog.
As a woman and a mom, life calls me to wear many hats. Balancing it all isn’t always easy, but being able to put my experiences and thoughts into words and know that someone else feels the same as I do is so meaningful to me. I make sense out of life and process my experiences through writing. As I’ve gotten deeper into my motherhood experience, I’m finding I crave that need to connect with others going through the same experiences even more.
There are also, unfortunately, plenty of negative outlets for moms these days thanks to social media. In this day and age, I see a lot of complaining, judgement, and paths that I don’t think the Lord intended for so many moms to take. At Grace for Every Mom, we hope to encourage, connect, and inspire in healthy accepting ways that would be pleasing to God, that lift other moms up, and create a positive nourishing community.
Welcome! My name is Emily, and my husband and I are parents to one sweet and spunky 14-month-old little girl. I stay home with her full time, and work part time as a freelance editor and writer. We live in Indiana, somewhere in-between the city and cornfields.
Several months ago, as I sat in the glider in my daughter’s room, rocking my baby for what felt like the hundredth time that night, my mind raced with thoughts about motherhood. And I realized, I missed having a place to put those thoughts. After blogging for nearly six years, I retired my health and lifestyle blog several months before my daughter’s first birthday, and I missed it. With the birth of this new blog, I am thankful to have an outlet for my thoughts again.
Whether we’re discussing toddler tantrums, birth stories, or marriage after baby, I hope that we can listen without judging, and become closer as moms and friends. Motherhood is hard enough, and we don’t want to add to that. We hope that you feel uplifted and encouraged every time that you visit Grace for Every Mom.
Hi! My name is Danica and I’m thrilled to be a part of this already beautiful community. I spent almost five years writing a health/lifestyle blog, and while it was retired after I became a mom, I’m thrilled to be writing again. My husband and I have a 15-month-old son who we think is the cutest, sweetest child on earth (we also assume every parent feels this way about their child). We live in Minnesota and are bracing ourselves for this coming winter season after living in California the previous couple of years. I truly can talk about both pregnancy/babies/motherhood and Christianity endlessly (just ask any one of my friends), so to see those two topics intersect at this site is wonderfully encouraging.
My sincerest desire is that you feel welcome here at Grace for Every Mom. Motherhood challenges and stretches us as women every single day. I pray this will be a place where you are comfortable to be vulnerable and honest, to laugh and cry, to learn and grow, and to know that the Lord shines through every single crack of our clay pots of motherhood.
